Deck Flashing Installation–Deck Flashing by Joist Jackets®

Installation Instructions:
Installing Joist Jackets® with its pliable PVC construction is easily handled by anyone handy enough to use common household scissors and a construction stapler.

Simply follow the 3 easy steps below for quick and easy installation.

1. Pre-cut enough lengths of material from your roll of flashing to cover the top and ends of all your GIRDERS. Allow yourself a little extra length. Simply roll or slide the flashing out over the top and the down ends of the girders. Staple the flashing as needed to hold it in place. Cut relief notches into the sides of the flashing where you will fold it over and down the girder ends. Scissors work best for cutting the flashing. For joist that lay on top of your girder, mark your joist "layout" on the flashing using a 16 penny nail to scribe your marks.

2. Lay your JOIST and flash them similar to step one above. Start at the ledger board or the nearest point to the house and roll out to and over the ends. Now flash your LEDGER using the familiar technique of cut and staple.

3. Now that your girders, joists and ledgers are covered with flashing, frame in all required BLOCKING and flash these members also. Installation of your J.J. flashing system is now complete!
